Black smoke engulfs Essex street as car carrier lorry catches fire
An industrial area was overwhelmed with black smoke following a vehicle fire yesterday (May 15). The incident happened on Benfield Way where Essex County Fire and Rescue were called at 5.56pm after reports of a fire.
Crew swarmed to the scene and found a lorry carrying two vehicles on fire when they arrived. The fire was extinguished by 6.15pm.
No injuries were reported following the incident. The cause of the fire has not been revealed but thick black smoke could be seen billowing in the air for miles.
