Biker glassed and attacked with helmet by gang

A man was glassed and hit with his own motorcycle helmet during a gang attack in Chippenham town centre. Wiltshire Police said the incident happened at around 7.20pm on Friday (May 12) on the High Street.

Police said the victim, a man in his 20s, was near The Flying Monk when he was approached by three men and one woman who told him to empty his pockets. When he refused, he was hit in the face with a glass bottle before being repeatedly punched in the head.

The group also used the man’s own motorcycle helmet to assault him. A member of the public gave him first aid at the scene before the victim was taken to hospital.

Wiltshire Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch. Enquiries are ongoing and officers are obtaining CCTV from the local area as part of the investigation.
