Biker dies in M6 horror crash on Staffordshire border

A tragic crash near the Staffordshire border has resulted in the death of a biker today, May 18. Emergency services have confirmed the motorcyclist’s death this afternoon after a collision involving their bike and a lorry on the M6 this morning.

Paramedics and the Midlands Air Ambulance were dispatched to a stretch between junctions 10A and 10, with police shutting the route – as well as a section of the M54 – around 8.15am.

An ambulance service spokeswoman said: “On arrival, crews discovered a motorbike and a lorry had been involved in a collision and the motorcyclist, a man, was in a critical condition.

“Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, it became apparent that he could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene.”

Staffordshire Police says the biker’s next of kin have been informed. A spokeswoman said: “We went to the scene with colleagues from West Midlands Police, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service.

“A motorcyclist, in his 40s, was found in cardiac arrest following a collision involving a lorry. Sadly, he was pronounced dead by paramedics a short time later.

“Formal identification will take place in due course. Next of kin have been informed.”

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service sent crews from Cannock and Fallings Park to the scene. A spokeswoman said: “The casualty was not trapped. This casualty was later confirmed as a fatality. We left the incident in the care of the police and left the scene at 9.07am.”

The stretch reopened at around 1.10pm.
