A63 reopens after lorry crash blocks all four lanes – recap

A lorry crashed across both carriageways of the A63 leading to lengthy delays on both sides of the road for around seven hours.

The road was blocked between North Cave and North Ferriby, police said. The crash is understood to have happened near Brantingham. Motorists were advised to avoid the road in both directions with a full closure initially in place before a lane reopened on the westbound side in the afternoon. Both sides were fully reopened at around 5.20pm.

A witness told BBC Radio Humberside that the the crash happened just past a bridge near the Triton pub. The lorry was laid on its side across all four lanes.

The lorry took out a crash barrier in the central reservation and the road was blocked in both directions. Traffic was backing up significantly on both carriageways.
