Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue confirmed that Grantham crews were called at 3.42pm to a HGV containing scrap metal that is on fire.

The incident was first reported at 1.52pm today (Friday).

The crews are using a short extension ladder, a hose reel and breathing apparatus at the moment.

A National Highways spokesperson confirmed that they were sending resources to assist with traffic management.

The spokesperson added: “Our strategic diversion route when the A52 is closed is along the A1 northbound from Barrowby to Newark then the A46 to Bingham where traffic can pick up the A52 again, or vice versa.

“We advise road users to allow extra time for their journeys until the incident is cleared.”
