A429 serious crash investigations continue after road closed for 17 …

A major route through the Cotswolds was reopened by police this morning (Monday, May 15) after a serious crash involving a car and a motorbike on Sunday. The collision happened at around 1pm yesterday on the A429 Fosseway and the road was reported as being reopened at around 6.15am today.

The collision was near to the Stump pub[1] and the junction with Fosscross Lane. Gloucestershire police warned motorists that the closure of the road between Cirencester and Northleach would be in place for some time and motorists were told to avoid the area.

Motorists faced delays and diversions as emergency crews worked at the scene, followed by crash investigators. No details have yet been released about injuries.

Yesterday, a spokesperson for Gloucestershire Constabulary said: “The A429 remains closed between Cirencester and Northleach this evening. It will stay closed for several more hours while enquiries are completed into the collision.

This morning, traffic and travel information service Inrix reported the road was clear after: “arlier accident investigation work on A429 in both directions from Calmsden turn off to Fields Road (Chedworth turn off).

“Road was closed overnight following an accident Sensors indicate traffic is flowing.”
