A34 partly-closed near Abingdon after bus and lorry crash

A34 traffic alert

A34 traffic alert Part of the A34 has been shut for emergency resurfacing works after a bus crash closed the road on bank holiday Monday. The bus and lorry collided on the dual carriageway northbound near Abingdon[1].

National Highways, which manages the road, said the crash left behind a large amount of spilled fuel – damaging the road surface. The A34 is closed northbound between the A4130 at Didcot[2] and the A415 at Abingdon to allow for resurfacing works. Repairs will be carried out ‘throughout the evening’, National Highways said.

No time was given for when the road will be reopened.

A diversion route is in place, taking drivers off the A34 at the Milton Interchange, through Wantage[3], onto the A420 and back onto the A34 at Botley.

The road remains open southbound.
