Police have now confirmed that the road will be forced to close in order to "facilitate the recovery of the vehicle".

Officers advised that motorists plan alternative routes during this period.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The A1 southbound at Thistly Cross Roundabout will be closed today from 1pm until 2pm in order to facilitate the recovery of a vehicle. Please take alternative routes."
