Woman taken to hospital after level crossing crash in Welsh village

A woman has been injured in a crash on a level crossing. Trains were stopped following the collision involving a lorry and car, which happened at around 11.45am on Thursday. An air ambulance was called to the scene in Caersws, a village in Powys, but the woman was taken to hospital by road, reports Wales Online[1].

At 12.53pm Dyfed-Powys Police said: “The level crossing at Caersws is currently closed due to a collision. Please avoid the area for the time being and find an alternative route. Thank you.”

At 2.27pm a spokeswoman for the force added: “One woman has suffered injuries. Due to the position of the vehicles, trains were put on stop. The car and lorry will be recovered from the scene before the road is reopened.”

The force said the woman’s injuries do not appear to be “life-threatening or life-changing”. A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We sent one rapid response vehicle and an emergency ambulance to the scene, where we were supported by the Wales Air Ambulance. One person was taken by road to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further treatment.”
