Woman injured after accident at Caersws, Powys level crossing on …
The collision took place where the railway line intersects the A470 near Caersws leading to severe traffic disruption in the area and the cancellation of trains. Emergency services received a 999 call at around 11.45am and once at the scene, they found the woman trapped inside the car. Firefighters from Newtown and Llanidloes safely removed the trapped person who was then checked over by paramedics before being taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
The road reopened after it was closed for almost two-and-a-half hours. OTHER NEWS: A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 11.45am the Newtown and Llanidloes crews were called to a road traffic collision incident near Caersws.
They added: “The RTC involved one heavy goods vehicle and one private motor vehicle, with one casualty trapped inside the motor vehicle. “Crews released the casualty using electronic cutting gear and the casualty was then attended to by the ambulance service crew who were also in attendance. “Crews left the scene at 1.16pm.”
Both the Welsh Ambulance Service and Wales Air Ambulance were called to the scene and it was confirmed that a person had to be taken to hospital. A spokesperson from the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We sent one rapid response vehicle and an emergency ambulance to the scene, where we were supported by the Wales Air Ambulance. “One person was taken by road to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further treatment.”
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson confirmed the accident involved a car and a lorry. They continued: “One woman has suffered injuries. Due to the position of the vehicles, trains were put on stop.”

This has led to disruption to on the Cambrian Line this afternoon with some journeys being cancelled entirely. A spokesperson for Transport for Wales added: “Rail services between Machynlleth and Shrewsbury will be affected and we advise all customers to check online for updates.
Replacement buses will be available if needed.”
The road has now been reopened.
