Engineering works across Britain's railways could affect your travels over the Easter[2] weekend.

Improvements to the network will take place over the long Easter weekend, affecting routes from London[3] Euston, London Victoria and elsewhere in the UK.

The Easter Bank Holiday starts with Good Friday, which falls on Friday, 7 April this year.

This is the first of two Bank Holidays across the Easter weekend, with the second falling on Easter Monday, 10 April.

Will my train be cancelled over Easter?

A statement on National Rail's website has warned customers to expect disruption if they are travelling during the Easter period.

The statement reads: 'There will be disruption to services on many routes between Friday 7th April and Monday 10th April 2023 (inclusive) - and Friday 28th April and Monday 1st May 2023 (inclusive).

Some train services will be affected as we work to improve the railway.

Is London Euston station open?

London Euston station will be closed for four days, as engineers carry out maintenance work on the West Coast main line, which connects London to Glasgow.

Improvements are being made to the stretch of track on the West Coast main line at Watford, resulting in the closure of one of London's busiest termini.

Consequently, services that normally run to and from Euston must start or end at Milton Keynes. This means passengers have to rely on rail replacement buses to go to or from Bedford, where they change for Thameslink services.

Buses are also running to Potters Bar to allow passengers to connect with services into King's Cross.

Is London Victoria station open?

London Victoria will be part-closed.

No trains will run between Victoria and East Croydon, because of engineering work being carried out at Streatham.

As a result, the majority of services operated by Southern Railway will be diverted to London Bridge

Due to the part closure of Victoria station, the Gatwick Express - which takes customers to and from Gatwick Airport - will not run.

Is the Tube running?

London Underground services will also be affected by engineering works across the Easter weekend.

No trains will run between West Hampstead and Stanmore on the Jubilee line from 14:00 BST on Good Friday, 7 April until the morning of Tuesday, 11 April.

From Good Friday until Easter Monday, there will be no service on the Metropolitan line from Aldgate to Harrow-on-the-Hill.

Customers are advised to take Chiltern Railways services from London Marylebone to Wembley Stadium.

Is the Overground running?

London Overground services will also be disrupted by the closure at Euston.

There will be no services between Kilburn High Road and Euston from Friday, 7 April until Saturday, 8 April.

From Sunday, 9 April until Monday, 10 April, there will be no services between Euston and Watford Junction.

Overground services between Gospel Oak and Barking Riverside will not run on Sunday, 9 April.

Is the Elizabeth Line running?

From Friday, 7 April until Monday, 10 April, a reduced service will operate between Paddington and Maidenhead, owing to signalling system upgrade works.

Two trains per hour will serve West Drayton, Langley, Slough, Burnham and Maidenhead, and four trains per hour will serve Ealing Broadway, Southall and Hayes & Harlington.
