Train guard ‘punched in the face’ after refusing to buy rail ticket

A thug punched a train guard in the face after refusing to buy a ticket. British Transport Police said two men boarded the train at Accrington[1] before being asked to leave the service at Blackburn[2] due to refusing to purchase tickets. In response, one of the men punched the guard in the face.

The guard was left with swelling and bruising. The men left the station and CCTV enquiries are ongoing. Less than one hour later, officers attended a separate report of another train guard being threatened at the station.

A spokesperson for British Transport[3] Police said: “Two males who boarded a train at #Accrington were asked by the guard to leave the service at #Blackburn after they refused to buy tickets. One of the males punched the guard in the face, causing swelling and bruising, before leaving the station. #CCTV enquiries ongoing. “Less than an hour after the above incident at #Blackburn officers were attending a separate report of a train guard being threatened at the station.”
