A Saugeen Shores Facebook post Friday said Saugeen Shores police and the OPP “responded to a serious incident last night that ended on Goderich Street,” at the southern fringe of Port Elgin. Goderich Street is also Highway 21. “A police vehicle was damaged after it was used to push a vehicle off the roadway before it entered the downtown core of Port Elgin.
An adult driver was arrested for several offences and will be held in custody pending a bail hearing,” the post said. No one was injured as a result of this incident, the police post said. It includes the time 9 p.m., seemingly the time of the incident.
Photos of the scene[1] posted on the Saugeen Shores police Facebook page show a red pickup truck stopped, mostly over the curb in front of the Travelodge Motel, with a Saugeen Shores police pickup beside and one behind it, with flashing red and blue lights.
Another photo shows five police vehicles around the red pickup.

Ashley Gouin said in an interview Friday that while working Thursday night at the Travelodge front desk, she went outside to vape and heard police sirens. She didn’t pay much attention until police converged on a vehicle in front of the motel, she said. She went back inside to the front desk and watched through windows at the front of the motel and saw about six police cars.
She said she felt “a little nervous” but she’d locked the motel doors and felt she could retreat to another area if needed. “I saw one of the cops and they had their guns drawn,” she said. She said thinks the officer was pointing a gun towards the truck.
Gouin saw someone who was detained, whom she thought was a girl, she said. She saw no others in the truck. She heard no shots fired.
“Pretty out of the ordinary. I mean you don’t see stuff like that every day. It was pretty weird,” she said.
She stayed inside for the rest of her shift, she said. Police remained for an hour or 90 minutes, leaving at 10:40 p.m. she said. “I think they towed the truck.” She saw a couple of guests go outside while the police were there. “Due to the nature of the investigation and in an effort to protect the identities of the victims no further information will be shared,” the police post said.
Police reiterated by phone to The Sun Times that no further information will be released.
