Pretty Cotswolds town near Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm

The Cotswolds are full of some of the most beautiful towns and villages in the country. The area lies across the boundaries of several English counties, but mostly in Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire. Located in West Oxfordshire is another enchanting town that’s ideal for a trip over the long weekends this month.

Chipping Norton is a town some may already be familiar with through the popular Amazon Prime TV show, Clarkson’s Farm[1], which was located extremely close to the Chadlington farm, reports OxfordshireLive[2]. Chipping Norton is a market town in the Cotswold Hills. The town is located about 12 miles southwest of Banbury and 18 miles northwest of Oxford.

‘Chippy’, as it is affectionately known, is a real, working Cotswold market town. Celebrated for its antique shops and diverse shopping offer, including a regular market, the lively town centre is always bustling with shoppers and visitors. There is a strong selection of places to eat and quality entertainment at the wonderful theatre, famous for its pantomime and visiting world-class performers.

There is plenty of historical interest too, including the Grade I listed St Mary’s Church, the impressive Bliss Mill (now luxury flats) and the grand Town Hall. A small local museum on the first floor of the 19th century Chipping Norton Co-op Society Meeting Hall informs visitors on how it became such a thriving market town. It’s also home to another famous family who were drawn to the area.

The Beckhams are known to frequently visit their beautiful barn conversion home in the area of Great Tew. Posh and Becks bought the converted farmhouse in the tiny village back in 2016 for a reported GBP6.15 million Nestled in the Cotswolds, the tiny village has reportedly been inhabited since as early as the Bronze Age.

Since the 1960s it has been owned by the Johnston family as part of the Great Tew estate, reports MyLondon.[4]
