Police update on arrest after man ‘stabbed in the eye’

Police have issued an update on an investigation after a man was reportedly stabbed in the eye.[1] Armed officers and paramedics were called to reports of disturbance, at around 8.25am on Friday, March 31. At the scene, on Milton Road, Widnes, officers found a 25-year-old man had suffered serious face injuries.

Cheshire police[2] have now confirmed that a 27-year-old man, from Liverpool, was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. He has since been bailed until June 29, 2023 pending further enquiries. The ECHO attended the scene[4] after police cordoned off the road, and a witness said the victim emerged from one of the properties with “one sock on, one sock off” and “screaming” that he had been “stabbed in the eye”, before being taken away by ambulance.

A spokesperson for Cheshire police said: “Officers were called at 8.25am on Friday 31 March following reports of a disturbance on Milton Road, Widnes. Patrols, supported by firearms officers, swiftly attended the scene and found a 25-year-old man with serious facial injuries. “He was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.

A 27-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. He has since been bailed until June 29 2023 pending further enquiries. “Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing.
