Police cordon in place after house set alight in ‘targeted’ arson attack
Police have cordoned off part of a street in Bolton following a ‘targeted’ arson attack in the early hours of Sunday (April 16). Emergency services were initially called to the incident on Green Lane shortly after 12am. The blaze was quickly put out by local residents and the fire service, with no injuries reported.
Detectives investigating are now treating it as a targeted attack with a scene remaining in place as enquiries are carried out. Police have since arrested two men, aged 31 and 28, on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, however officers are still hunting for other possible suspects and continuing with investigations. Detective Chief Inspector Peter Morley of GMP Bolton’s district added: “Last night’s arson attack is a shocking display of violence and aggression and have put innocent members of the public at risk.
Thankfully nobody was injured, and the incident is believed to be a targeted attack. “Two males have already been arrested on suspicion of this attack and we are continuing our extensive enquiries to locate any other possible suspects involved. “You will see officers located at the scenes and patrolling around the Farnworth and Great Lever areas on foot and in vehicles to provide reassurance to the local communities.
