Police: Victim identified in Dump Truck vs SUV crash

BROOKLAND, Ark. (KAIT) – Arkansas State Police identified a man who died Wednesday in a crash involving a dump truck and an SUV.

Police say Jonathan Cody Noel, 34 of Brookland, was driving south on HWY 49 when he hit an oncoming dump truck.

Witnesses told KAIT8 the dump truck served out of the way to avoid the SUV and ended up in a ditch after hitting the front side of Noel’s car. #BREAKING: Crews on scene of fatal crash on Highway 49 in Brookland.

According to Jonesboro-Craighead County E911, the crash happened around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 8100-block of Highway 49.

A Brookland police officer on the scene told our 10 p.m. anchor/reporter Chris Carter, that one person died in the crash and another suffered minor injuries.

Brookland police confirm one person is dead after this crash on 49. This is the swept up debris pile from the car that person was in. One other person had minor injuries.

Police shut down the highway, diverting northbound traffic onto School Street and southbound traffic onto Honeysuckle, as crews worked to clear the scene.

E911 reported officers reopened the highway just before 1:30 p.m., two hours after the crash.
