Plane lands on railroad tracks near Bishop Airport

Photo by Lania Rocha FLINT TWP. — A small plane had to make an emergency crash landing on the railroad tracks outside Flint Bishop International Airport on April 20. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), a single-engine Piper PA-28 landed on the tracks west of Bishop Airport near Bristol Road around 9:05 a.m. due to a reported engine issue.

Only the pilot was on board. A Bishop Airport spokesperson confirmed that the pilot, who was attempting to land at the airport, sustained no injuries in the crash. Passing motorists observed the plane on the railroad tracks near the intersection of Bristol Road and Linden Road around 10:30 a.m.

CN Railroad personnel were also on scene and rail traffic was temporarily halted.
