‘No excuse’: Mercedes clocked at 118mph on A419
Police have shared a shocking image of a speed gun showing 118mph after a driver was stopped on a stretch of the A419 across the border in Wiltshire. The Mercedes was seen speeding on the main road and Wiltshire Specialist Ops shared an image on its twitter page. It said on Thursday evening: "RPU (Roads Policing Unit) stopped the driver of this Mercedes this evening, travelling at 118mph on the A419.
There is no excuse to be travelling at that speed." Officers used the hashtag Fatal5 on the tweet. The fatal five driving dangers are inappropriate speed, in-car distractions such as using a mobile phone while driving, not wearing a seatbelt, drink/drug driving and following too close.
Speeding is one of the fatal five
Also on Thursday, the RPU stopped a vehicle, that had travelled back from Birmingham which had the exhaust scraping along the floor and a cracked windscreen.
Vehicle was prohibited and driver reported.
