Met Office issues yellow wind warning for Blackburn and Darwen

The warning stretches across the length of the country on the west side, and includes Blackburn[1] and Darwen. It is in place from around 3pm on Tuesday (April 11) until 6am on Wednesday (April 12), with the Met Office saying: “A period of strong winds bringing the potential for some disruption on Tuesday and Wednesday.” The weather service added that delays to road, rail, air, and ferry transport are likely, with some bus and train services taking longer than usual.

Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges are also likely, while short-term losses to power and other services are possible. The Met Office also provided some tips on staying safe during high winds, including securing loose items outside homes such as bins and plant pots, planning routes and checking for delays before travelling and driving slowly to minimise impact of wind gusts.
