Incident - The crash in Chichester Road saw a woman seriously injured (Image: Aaron Chesham) A MAN has been released following his arrest after a crash in Southend[1] city centre which left a pedestrian seriously. The crash involving a car and a pedestrian was reported from Chichester Road shortly after 1am yesterday, April 29.

A woman sustained a potentially serious head injury following the crash.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "A 43 year-old man from Southend was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drug driving.

"He has been released under investigation."
