Man crushed between truck and loading ramp on Victorian farm

A South Australian man has been seriously injured when he was crushed between a truck and a loading ramp on a Victorian farm.

An online fundraiser[1] has been set up for single father of one Steve McIntosh, who suffered damage to his spleen, pancreas, liver, kidneys and stomach in the accident on a property on Heath Rd in Gorare West just after 1pm on Wednesday, April 19.

Paramedics transported McIntosh to Portland District Hospital for emergency surgery, and he was later airlifted to the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.

The fundraiser organiser said the money will go towards helping McIntosh while he is on a long journey to recovery.

“Steve is a single dad doing his best to raise a young son with the amazing support from his family,” organiser Leanne Jarrett said.

“We are seeking everyone’s support to raise funds so Steve’s family can pay his financial and medical needs until he is fully recovered, (which may be some time away).”

McIntosh broke 10 ribs and six vertebrae, Jarrett said.

McIntosh remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition, an Alfred Hospital spokesperson said.

Worksafe Victoria is investigating the incident.
