M6 updates – Motorway reopen but heavy traffic still expected after …
Motorists are experiencing long delays on the M6 after a lorry crashed into a car and caught fire. One lane on the motorway remains shut after the entire road was closed for 15 hours. Resurfacing works are still being carried out following the crash, which saw a lorry flip and catch fire.
Traffic was held between J12 for Cannock and J13 for Stafford in both directions following the incident at around 11.30am. The southbound stretch has since been released but northbound remains closed for a “complex recovery.” Emergency services were called to scene including the Midlands Air Ambulance. A spokesperson for National Highways said: “Work to recover the lorry is expected to be protracted and the closure will remain in place for a considerable time.
There is currently delays of 60 minutes above normal journey times on the approach to J12, with approximately 6 miles of congestion in the area.”
