‘Lovely little pub’ in remote village that’s a countryside haven for …

Just four miles west of Banbury and nestled in the Oxfordshire countryside is the idyllic and quiet village of Balscote. Whilst at a first glance, the village might not have many attractions, one thing it does have is great pubs. With one establishment recently crowned as North Oxon CAMRA Pub of the Year 2023, you will be sure to receive delicious food and a tipple of your choice in the village.

The Butchers Arms received the prestigious award earlier this year. The Butchers Arms in Balscote is hidden away in the North Oxfordshire Countryside, and has been a Hook Norton Pub since 1878. The venue still features the original Ice house in the garden as well as boasting a Grade II Listing

The family-friendly pub is well known for its Hook Norton ales served from the cask as well as its delicious traditional pub grub which is served Friday and Saturday evenings. One five star review on Trip Advisor reads: “I have taken friends and family who have all loved it. The burger on Saturday is a particular favourite.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the pub, the beer, the garden and the lovely waiting staff to everyone.” Another happy customer wrote: “Walked over from a neighbouring village, 6 of us and had booked a table for burger night, 3 beef burgers, 2 chicken burgers and a vegetarian burger all served with skin on fries, onion rings and homemade slaw, food was excellent, service fabulous, great evening had by all with perfect sunshine to top it all, thank you Kate and your team” For more information and to book a table, visit the website here.[2]
