Lorry, private car plunge into ditch as bridge collapses
A Lorry and a private plunged into a ditch as an iron bridge collapsed at Trishal in Mymensingh on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway on Wednesday (April 26), leaving two passengers of the private car injured. The incident took place around 5:45pm at Chelerghat area of the upazila. Main Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Trishal Police Station, confirmed the matter.
He said, "One lane of the iron bridge collapsed after a 24-wheeler lorry carrying transformer came on the Dhaka-Mymensingh-bound lane, leaving a private with five passengers which was on the bridge plunged into the ditch. Of the passengers, two sustained injuries. Since the incident, all vehicles are plying on the other lane."
The OC further said the concerned authorities were informed to rescue the lorry.
They will take steps necessary in this regard.
