Live updates as ‘serious’ A47 crash involving pedestrian and lorry …

A “serious” crash involving a pedestrian and a heavy goods vehicle has shut the A47 between Leicester and Uppingham this morning. The incident, reported by Leicestershire Police[1], happened near the Leicester Road junction just west of Uppingham at about 7am. A police tweet this morning stated: “Road closure – A47 between Leicester Road and the roundabout junction for Uppingham and Ayston.

The road will be closed for some time following a serious RTC – please find an alternative route. “We appreciate your co-opperation at this time. Updates to follow. ”

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service[2] said they were called to the incident at 7.03am today and that it involved a pedestrian and an HGV and their crews had since left the scene.
