Live: M1 crash between two cars and lorry near Milton Keynes leads …
Long delays were building on the M1 near Milton Keynes after a crash on Sunday afternoon (April 23). The collision involving two cars and a lorry was reported northbound at around 3.45pm. Traffic was initially stopped but was released after 20 minutes.
One lane remained closed at 4.10pm but National Highways said there were delays in the area. It said: “Traffic has been released in lanes 1, 2 and 3 (of 4) on the M1 northbound between J13 and J14 near #MiltonKeynes[1]. Lane 4 remains closed while Traffic Officers work at scene.
We’re reporting delays of up to 30 minutes above usual journey times.” Traffic monitoring service Inrix reported queuing traffic on the busy motorway. It said: “One lane closed and queueing traffic due to accident, two cars and a lorry involved on M1 Northbound from J13 A421 Bedford Road (Bedford / Milton Keynes South) to J14 A509 (Milton Keynes).
“The traffic has been released after being temporarily held earlier although lane four (of four) remains closed.” All lanes reopened at just before 6.30pm. This was a breaking news story.
