Leasowe train station barriers reopen after emergency closure

The closures remained in place from around 9.25pm yesterday evening (April 25) and continued into this afternoon. It came following an emergency closure of the level crossing at Leasowe train station. The crossing barriers at the station remained down while part of Reeds Lane near Leasowe Station was closed to motorists due to a barrier fault.

The closure comes after new barriers were installed last month after a van crashed through the crossing.

Network Rail said following the incident that all four barriers were "badly damaged" and work had been underway to get replacements made as quickly as possible.
