King’s Road, Reading traffic as Thames Water and SSE are on site
Lane closures are in place on the King's Road, Reading, to allow for both companies to get stuck into maintenance works. Queues have been backed up in the area throughout the day with delays likely to run into tomorrow. Thames Water has been carrying out carriageway maintenance on the route since early April and has a schedule finish date expected for tomorrow (April 17) - by midnight.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Network is also making use of lane closures on the busy road to undertake utility repairs and maintenance. The works by SSE are scheduled to run through next week until Friday, April 21. Nearby, London Road is also subject to ongoing works currently with Network Rail's bridge works which means temporary traffic lights are in place - expected until May 19.
As a result, traffic reports in the area currently show vehicles backed up along London Road from the A3290 and Cemetery Junction.
Some delays are also being reported on King's Road itself.
