Horror crash sees lorry sliced in half before bursting into flames on M6
Horrifying pictures show the aftermath of a crash where a lorry was sliced in half before bursting into flames[1] on the M6. Emergency services – including an air ambulance – rushed to the scene in Staffordshire on Sunday morning, with the HGV having overturned near a bridge. It is unclear exactly what happened but photos shared on social media show the cabin having detached, with the trailer left mangled under the fly over.
The incident occurred at around 11.40am and the motorway was closed between Junction 12 for Cannock and Junction 13 for Stafford. It caused a huge backlog of traffic on the stretch, as well as nearby routes. An air ambulance landed on the motorway – but is currently unclear if there were any injuries.

In a statement, National Highways said: “The M6 in Staffordshire is closed northbound between J12 and J13 due to a road traffic collision involving a Heavy Goods Vehicle which has overturned and caught fire[3]. “Central Motorway Police Group, Fire & Rescue, Air Ambulance and National Highways Traffic Officers are on scene.

“The southbound carriageway has been released.
Traffic within the northbound closure is currently being released past the scene.”
