Fatal crash on A31 in Dorset leads to witness appeal
A fatal crash on the A31 on the edge of Dorset[1] in the early hours of the morning has sparked a witness appeal. Hampshire Police is urging anyone who may have seen the crash, or the moments leading up to it, to come forward. The smash occurred shortly before 4.20am on Saturday morning (April 15) after a car left the westbound carriageway close to the Burley exit in the New Forest[2].
The driver, a 24-year-old man from Wimborne, suffered serious injuries and died at the scene. Following an initial investigation, the police are now calling for witnesses to come forward who may have seen a grey Audi A3 on the A31 in the early hours of this morning. PS Chris Thompson, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or the moments leading up to it.
“Did you see a grey Audi A3 driving westbound on the A31 shortly before 4.20 am this morning? Perhaps you were driving in the area at the time and have dash cam footage that captured something that may assist our enquiries?” Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting reference number 44230146953 or to submit information online via the organisation’s website.[4]
