‘Deplorable’ act condemned after windows smashed in Widnes

Mersey Road in West Bank, Widnes. (Google) Police are investigating after windows were smashed on four different properties during a “deplorable” rampage in a Widnes street. Cheshire Constabulary said officers were called to Mersey Road at around 8.55pm on Sunday, March 26, over reports of a “disturbance”.

At the scene they found windows had been smashed on four properties. Anyone with any information or footage is urged to contact the police. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have dashcam footage is urged to contact Cheshire Police.

Chief Inspector Shaun Pyke, of Widnes LPU, said: “This was a deplorable act and I understand the emotional distress that it has caused in the local community. “A number of enquiries are underway and as part of these enquiries we are looking to speak with anyone who may have caught dashcam footage in the Mersey Road area at the time of the incident. “There were lots of people in the area at the time, and anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to contact us so that we can find the people responsible.”
