CN train derails in Strathcona County

A CN Rail train carrying grain derailed in Strathcona County Wednesday morning. In an emailed statement, CN spokesperson Julianne Threlfall said the derailment happened at about 6 a.m. east of Edmonton near the intersection of Wye Road and Range Road 215. Seventeen cars reportedly derailed.

There were no dangerous goods reported to be involved and there are no injuries or fires.

CN crews and local first responders are attending to the derailment.

According to Strathcona County, traffic has not been affected and it is estimated the track will be closed for approximately 24 hours.
