Clarkson’s Farm – searches for homes near Diddly Squat Farm soar
Searches for properties for sale near Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm have soared, according to a property website. Clarkson’s Farm follows the former Top Gear presenter[1] as he struggles to manage a 1,000-acre farm in a quiet corner of the Cotswolds[2] near the village of Chadlington. The hugely popular show has attracted hordes of visitors to the area, with queues of customers often seen outside the Diddly Squat Farm Shop.
It’s perhaps no surprise then that Rightmove has said that searches for homes for sale in Chadlington surged by a massive 373 percent in February and March 2023, compared with the same period in 2022. The Express reports[3] that the average asking price for a home in the postcode area of Chadlington is also GBP518,702, having risen by 7 percent between June 2021 and March 2023, according to Rightmove. The property website’s expert Tim Bannister said: “It’s always fascinating to see in real time on Rightmove how the latest TV shows or cultural moments can inspire homehunters’ searches.
“Many of us will have watched Clarkson’s Farm and imagined what our life could be like if we relocated to the countryside or opted for a lifestyle change. The countryside still has a real pull with homehunters, as ‘acre’, ‘rural’ and ‘land’ are still some of the most popular keyword phrases that people use when searching for their next home.” Among the show’s cast members who became unlikely stars is Kaleb Cooper, a 24-year-old farm worker who comes to Clarkson’s rescue on more than one occasion.
The breakout star, who had barely left his hometown when the cameras started rolling, returned in the second series and left fans demanding a spin-off[5]. Kaleb has now been named among the famous faces who will attend the beloved Royal Three Counties Show[6] in Malvern[7], which will offer three days of animal encounters, spectacular displays and expert agricultural insights from June 16-18 this summer. The Clarkson’s Farm star will speak at an event called ‘The Future of Farming Zone’ at the Three Counties Showground on Saturday, June 17.
