Car lorry falls in river as bridge breaks in Mymensingh

A steel bailey bridge built over the Khiro River at Trishal in Mymensingh broke down and a private car and a cargo lorry fell into the river on Wednesday. The accident took place at Chelerghat area of Dhaka-Mymensingh highway around 6:30pm. Police and fire service began rescue operations after receiving the information.

However, no casualty was reported. Confirming the incident, Trishal police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Mainuddin said: "The traffic has been stopped since the incident. On receiving the information, the police and fire service personnel are conducting rescue operations.

The passengers of the lorry and private car were rescued."
