GMFRS statement: Six fire engines called after blaze breaks out at bin compound
The fire broke out at an address on Market Street, which is just behind Silver Street. A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At around 4am this morning (Friday, 7th April), firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a commercial address on Market Street in Bury.
“Six fire engines from Bury, Whitefield, Heywood, Blackley, Bolton Central and Broughton fire stations, along with the turntable ladder from Bolton Central, the technical response unit from Ashton-under-Lyne and the command unit from Atherton fire stations quickly arrived at the scene.
“The fire involved a bin compound which firefighters extinguished using two hose reels.
Firefighters remain at the scene alongside Greater Manchester Police while they work to make the area safe.”
