Live – A120 closed between Stansted and Takeley
Drivers have been told to expect delays after the A120 eastbound between Stansted and Takeley was closed due to a road traffic accident. Firefighters are currently at the scene after a car veered into a lorry, getting trapped under its trailer. Crews from Chelmsford (two), Stansted and the Urban Search and Rescue team are in attendance.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service have also advised motorists to avoid the area and find alternative routes. And due to the heavy rain in the region, they have been asked to take extra care on the roads. The Fire and Rescue Service also reported that the driver of the car was “conscious and breathing throughout”.
He was freed and put into the care of the ambulance service. Crews are working with emergency services and other partners to stabilise and move the lorry and bring the incident to a safe conclusion. Station Manager Howard Midwood said: “I’d like to thank our crews who responded brilliantly and are continuing to support other agencies at the scene.”
The incident was first reported at 11:11pm on Friday (March 31). This is a live story. Further updates will be added to our live blog below.
