Armed police swarm street as man ‘covered in blood’ screams he’s …
A man emerged from a property “covered in blood” screaming he had been “stabbed in the eye” as armed police descended on a residential road in Widnes[1] this morning (March 31). Officers armed with rifles were seen behind the cordon and detectives were spotted ducking under the cordon tape. Milton Road was shut between Rose Street and Lower House Lane as police were called to a ‘disturbance’ at 8.25am Friday.
Police confirmed that a 25-year-old man was taken to hospital with “serious facial injuries,” but did not say whether those injuries were sustained in an assault. Passers-by described seeing the casualty “covered in blood”. One witness said the he emerged from one of the properties “one sock on, one sock off” and “screaming” that he had been “stabbed in the eye”, before being taken away by ambulance, the Liverpool Echo reports[2].
The man’s condition is not thought to be life threatening, Cheshire Police said. One officer in PPE gloves and mask was seen taking photographs around the property where the “disturbance” was reported to have taken place. There had been no arrests in connection with the incident at time of writing.
Milton Road reopened shortly after midday.
