Ram Joins The Electric Pickup Truck Game With The 2024 Ram 1500 Revolution

Ram is joining the electric pickup truck game late. Ford has already released the Lightning, Chevrolet has come out with the Silverado and its more luxurious GMC brother, and other brands like Rivian have provided the market with even more choices. However, the fact that RAM is late might be because engineers were doing their homework. The Ram Revolution EV is perhaps the most amazing and futuristic truck we have seen to date. It takes trucks to a whole new level both when it comes to design and technology. It is safe to say that Ford, Chevrolet, and all other truck companies will have their work cut out to beat this one.

Looking at the Ram Revolution, the first thing that comes to mind is the word "futuristic." While the design of the truck is futuristic you will be surprised to know that the whole thing is based on a normal truck frame. This is great news as all other trucks so far are based on a unibody design.

A body-on-frame like the Ram is more robust and works better for truck purposes. On the concept truck, we can also see some insane 24-inch wheels which certainly won't work well for off-roading, but they do look cool. Since there is no engine up front the cab has been stretched by about four inches which leads to a shorter hood but a much more spacious cabin.

The bed is the normal crew cab bed length of 5.5 feet. A weird feature that the engineers have added is the follow-me function. What this does is enables the truck to keep a safe distance behind you as you walk ahead.

We are not sure in which instances such a feature will be helpful in, but if it makes it into production, people will certainly find usage for it. Related: 10 Things You Need To Know About The Canoo Electric Pickup Truck

Under The Skin, The Ram Revolution Is Even More Exciting

The mechanical parts of the Ram Revolution are perhaps even more exciting than the design. However, they are by no means the part we are most excited about.

More on that later. The suspension design in the new vehicle is independent at the front and rear. They can raise or lower the ride height of the vehicle.

Also, when loaded, more air in the airbags reduces sag; therefore, improving payload. We must add, however, that an independent system with airbags will never be as robust as a solid axle with coils. The airbags may start leaking after a few years while the independent suspension is inherently weaker. Aside from suspension, the new truck also features a rear steer at 15 degrees.

For comparison, the Hummer EV only does 10 degrees. This will make the truck much more maneuverable - especially when towing a trailer. Finally, its electric system is based on the latest 800W architecture which basically means it will be able to charge faster. The range is speculated to be around 500 miles.

Sadly, we do not have any information regarding power, towing, and payload yet. The truck that has been revealed is still just a concept, but judging by other EV trucks on the market we can surely expect upwards of 500 horsepower, especially for the higher-end trim levels. The Interior And Innovative Features Of The Revolution EV Are Out Of This World

This is by far the most 'revolution'ary truck we have seen so far. Starting from the front storage area where we get power outlets and even cup holders.

However, most notably there is an opening in the middle which when combined with the folding midgate enables users to haul items that are up to 18 feet long. Inside the cabin, it all gets even more insane. The seats are arranged in an asymmetrical manner because the floor of the truck uses tracks that enable the seats to be moved around.

Also, the materials used are made from apple byproducts which means they are less damaging to the environment. On the doors, you find plenty of electronic controls and even a small screen on the roof. Underneath the rear window, you also get jump seats meaning that this concept can carry up to six people.

The normal production model may be able to carry even more people depending on seat arrangement and specs.

One of the most impressive features in the cabin is the steering wheel that can be folded away for autonomous driving. Equally impressive are the infotainment screens than can be removed to use as tablets. Oh, we also get storage inside the doors (not in the form of door cards but inside the actual door) and that storage area is heated or cooled.

So, you can keep your launch warm while at work.

The bed is also impressive with more tracks ruining through it, power outlets, and even barn doors. It was even stated that the floor of the bed can slide in and out. This is helpful if you want to load something heavy as it eliminates the need to push it down the bed. Has your mind been blown yet?

Because ours certainly has. This is a truck that defies the norm and brings revelations we have never seen before. Related: 10 Reasons To Buy An Electric Pickup Truck

Ford And Chevrolet Have A Lot To Worry About

The Ram Revolution is still a concept; therefore, the features presented to us may not make it into production. However, we are pretty sure many of them will as the actual production truck be presented to us in a few months.

Being last in the game has given Ram engineers the ability to sit back and observe. This has led to a truck that goes above and beyond in everything. Sadly, we do not have any information regarding availability and pricing yet.

However, we will do so in a few months when the production version is released.

For now, it is safe to say that the Ram Revolution is certainly revolutionary.
