Fire Truck Struck While at Crash on I-91 South in Windsor Locks

A fire truck was struck while at an unrelated crash on Interstate 91 south in Windsor Locks on Wednesday morning.

State police said the fire truck was blocking the right and right center lanes of four just before exit 38 after a crash. The fire truck was parked and unoccupied when it was struck around 4 a.m. by a Suffield woman driving a Ford Escape. The woman was transported to St.

Francis Hospital to be treated for suspected minor injuries. No firefighters were injured. She was found to be at fault for the crash and was issued infractions for traveling too fast for conditions and failure to move over or slow down for an emergency vehicle, according to state police.

Drivers are reminded to move over or slow down for stopped emergency vehicles such as fire trucks, police vehicles, ambulances, tow trucks, CT DOT and other highway maintenance vehicles.
