Driver cited after pickup truck crashes into home

BALDWINVILLE — The driver of a pickup truck has been cited for speeding and a marked lanes violation after crashing into an Elm Street home early Sunday. Templeton police and fire crews responded to 95 Elm St. at 1:49 a.m. for a single-vehicle crash into a home that sustained significant damage, forcing residents to leave the dwelling. The driver of a Ford F-150 had extricated himself from his truck prior to units arriving, and was transported to Heywood Hospital in Gardner with minor injuries.

A resident of the the single-family who was inside the home at the time of the crash was also evaluated at the scene by EMS, but not taken to the hospital.

According to officials, electrical service to the home had to be cut and the residents had to find another place to spend the night pending a building inspection.

The crash remains under investigation by police.
