Mac’s Truck Group to showcase specialist builds at RTX 2026

Mac's Truck Group will use this year's Road Transport Expo to highlight its specialist vehicle engineering expertise with a five-truck display featuring crane trucks, flatbeds and heavy-duty construction vehicles. Exhibiting jointly as Mac's Truck Rental and Mac's Truck Sales on Stand O13, the Huddersfield-based business will showcase a range of bespoke builds designed to demonstrate its ability to deliver tailored vehicle solutions through both outright purchase and rental agreements. Leading the display will be the largest crane truck the company has built to date.

Based on a Volvo FH Aero 500 8x2 rigid chassis, the vehicle is equipped with a fully remote-controlled FASSI F1450RA2.26 crane and L626 fly jib capable of lifting up to 19.3 tonnes. The crane can safely handle loads of up to 6,745kg at a reach of 15.4 metres, making it suitable for some of the most demanding lifting applications in the transport and construction sectors.

Largest crane build yet

A key feature of the flagship vehicle is Mac's patented front stabiliser leg system. Hidden behind the truck's front grille, the design allows lifting operations to be carried out through a full 360-degree working range.

The vehicle also features the company's latest lightweight 20ft flatbed body, developed to maximise payload potential while maintaining strength and durability. The truck will be joined by a second Volvo FH Aero 500 featuring a Mac's flatbed body mounted on an 8x4 Tridem chassis and fitted with a FASSI F705R2.26 crane. Completing the Volvo contingent on the stand will be an FMX 460 8x2 rigid with on/off-road capability, equipped with Mac's beavertail bodywork and aimed at operators working in demanding construction and plant transport applications.

DAF models complete the line-up

Alongside the Volvo vehicles, Mac's Truck Group will also display two DAF-based builds.

The first is a DAF XG 530 6x2 tractor unit fitted with a FASSI F905 crane, while the second is a DAF XF 530 8x2 rigid equipped with a cabin-specification Mac's flatbed body and a FASSI F905RA2.27 crane. Combined with an L436 high-performance fly jib, the specification is designed to provide maximum flexibility across a wide range of lifting and transport duties. Jeff Wright, Sales Director at Mac's Truck Rental, said the RTX display reflects the breadth of solutions available across the group.

"We're looking forward to showcasing a small cross-section of what we can deliver as a group," he said. "This year's line-up highlights our ability to build exactly what our customers need, delivering them into service through outright purchase or backed by either a short or long-term rental agreement, which allows customers to focus on their core business, with predictable monthly costs." Wright added that the flagship crane truck demonstrates the company's ability to tackle highly specialised transport requirements.

"When visitors see the sheer scale of what our biggest crane truck can achieve, it underlines our commitment to finding solutions to the most challenging transport and lifting requirements."

Growing nationwide presence

The RTX appearance comes during a period of expansion for Mac's Truck Group. Earlier this year the business opened a new sales and rental facility in Perth, extending its coverage across Scotland, including the Highlands and Islands. The group has also strengthened its aftersales support capabilities through the acquisition of London-based FASSI specialist Walker Crane Services, creating a southern operational base while enhancing crane support services for customers nationwide.

Visitors to the stand will be able to speak with representatives from both Mac's Truck Rental and Mac's Truck Sales about vehicle specifications, contract hire options, rental solutions and bespoke vehicle builds.

Road Transport Expo 2026 takes place at NAEC Stoneleigh between 30 June and 2 July.
