Telent to Deliver Traffic Signal Maintenance Services

Telent will continue to provide proactive and reactive maintenance services across Wiltshire's traffic signal network following successful contract renewal Wiltshire Council has reappointed Telent to maintain its traffic signal network following a competitive tender process, reinforcing a partnership that has supported the county's roads for more than a decade. Reliable traffic signals are critical to keeping communities moving safely and efficiently.

When faults occur, congestion and safety risks can follow quickly. Telent's reappointment reflects its strong track record in delivering rapid fault response, proactive maintenance and minimal disruption to road users across Wiltshire. Under the renewed contract, Telent will continue to provide proactive and reactive maintenance services for traffic signal junctions, pedestrian crossings and associated roadside technology.

With around 95% of sites remotely monitored, issues can be identified early and resolved quickly, often before significant journey disruption occurs. Wiltshire Council selected Telent following a robust procurement process. Over the past ten years, Telent has worked closely with the Council to ensure the network remains operational, resilient and safe, even as infrastructure ages and performance expectations increase.

The renewal also reflects Telent's strong health and safety standards and its ability to work effectively in complex roadside environments while minimising disruption to residents, businesses and commuters. Paul Owen, Director - Traffic Technology at Telent, said, "Traffic signals are often only noticed when something goes wrong. Our role is to make sure that rarely happens.

Being reappointed by Wiltshire Council following a competitive process is a strong endorsement of our team's agility, performance and commitment to minimising disruption. We are proud to continue supporting the county with proactive asset management and fast, effective response services that keep communities moving safely and reliably." Cllr Martin Smith, Cabinet Member for Highways at Wiltshire Council, said: "Reliable traffic signals are essential for road safety and for keeping Wiltshire moving.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with Telent to ensure our infrastructure remains dependable for the people and businesses of Wiltshire."

The renewed agreement will see Telent continue applying its engineering expertise and remote monitoring capabilities to support safe, efficient journeys across the county's road network.
