CVS Show Collaboration with Armed Forces Charity

CVS Show collaboration with charity creates a platform for exhibitors to publicly pledge their support to the Armed Forces Covenant on opening day of show Mission Community, the industry advocacy arm of Service charity Mission Motorsport, are back at the Commercial Vehicle Show at the NEC on the 21-23 April where they will host a formal Armed Forces Covenant (AFC) signing ceremony on day one (21st April) at 1245pm on The Main Stage in Hall 5.  This is delivered in partnership with the Ministry of Defence's, Defence Relationship Management (DRM) team, backed by a special community partnership with event organisers Nineteen Group that has put the Armed Forces community front and centre at the show this year. The ceremony will be conducted with a senior military representative present, providing formal recognition of each organisation's pledge and reinforcing the importance of industry support to Service Leavers, Reservists, Veterans, Cadets and their families.  It is a moment to celebrate them as a national asset, brought together via the power of community.

This moment forms part of longstanding, Mission Community led, industry initiative 'Mission Automotive' that has its roots firmly in the show, given it was developed in conjunction with event strategic partner The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).  This campaign has been driving greater alignment between the automotive sector and national Defence priorities for several years. The initiative has enabled the industry to link up with the Defence Office for Small Business Growth, helping SMEs within the automotive supply chain to better understand and access opportunities within Defence markets, in line with the Defence Growth Plan announced last year.  A collaboration where everyone wins.  The Covenant ceremony celebrates successes like this, where all attendees of the CVS can share the moment. Hosted by James Cameron, Founder of Mission Motorsport and Mission Community, this public session will bring together industry and Defence to showcase a shared commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community and strengthening workforce resilience across the automotive and logistics sectors.

During the session, three organisations will make a public commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant:

  • Samsara
  • Hewland Engineering
  • Nineteen Group

This pledge highlights how those from an Armed Forces background have perfect alignment with the organisations exhibiting at CVS --discipline, leadership, adaptability, problem-solving including also many other technical skills learnt in service -- matching the needs of the commercial vehicle and logistics industries. The Commercial Vehicle Show is the UK's largest and most influential event for the transport and logistics industry, showcasing the latest innovations and offering real insight into sector trends and opportunities.  It sits alongside the Bus & Coach Expo and is a prime example of how both industry and the 3rdsector can combine at such events.
