Heineken extends electric freight transport partnership to Austria

Heineken has expanded its tie-up with electric freight technology company Einride to include Austria. The first wave of Austrian routes, connecting the Goss and Puntigam breweries with Heineken's 'Hub Sud' logistics centre in Wundschuh, and sales and partner warehouses across southern Austria, is now operating entirely on electric power. Heineken first collaborated with Einride last year with the launch of cross-border electric road freight operations between the Netherlands and Germany. The company is using eight electric trucks in Austria, averaging 20 deliveries per day, and plans to utilise 20 more vehicles by the end of the year.

Heineken said the trucks are estimated to save around 400 tonnes of CO2 over approximately 378,000 kilometres a year.
