Freeport LNG Reports Temporary Shutdown at Texas Facility Due to Power Fluctuation
11/4/2024 (Reuters) — Freeport LNG reported on Monday that three LNG processing trains at its Quintana, Texas, facility were back online after temporary outages that began on Friday because of a power feed interruption.
Texas-based Freeport LNG operates the second-largest U.S. export facility and gets its power from the state’s electrical grid. It has struggled this year with several processing outages caused by storms.
Those outages at times lowered U.S. LNG exports. “During operation of Freeport LNG’s Pretreatment Facility, Trains 1, 2, and 3 tripped due to an incoming power feed interruption.
The trips resulted in unavoidable venting to the Pretreatment Flare,” Freeport told the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
Gas flows to Freeport were on track to rise to 1.8 Bcf/d on Monday, up from 0.3 Bcf/d on Nov.
1 and near zero on Nov.
2, according to data from financial firm LSEG.
