Rush hour traffic building after Croft Interchange collision

According to National Highways North West, two out of three lanes have been closed on the M6 within the roadworks at junction 21a, where the motorway meets the M62. It posted: "2 lanes (of 3) are closed on the #M6[1] southbound in #Cheshire[2] within J21a (#M62[3]) within the roadworks due to a collision. Emergency services are in attendance.

There's already just over 2 and a half miles of congestion on approach. Updates to follow." Traffic monitoring system INRIX says that 'heavy traffic' is building on the motorway, with Traffic England stating there will be 45 minutes of delays against expected traffic conditions.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At 4.15pm on Friday, March 15, police were called to reports of a collision on the M6 northbound between junction 21a and junction 21. "The incident involves a car and a lorry. "Police, ambulance, and fire are in attendance at the scene."
