Manchester Road: Crash with lorry and car disrupts buses

Police were called to the crash at around 7.45am on Manchester Road, near Burnden Park, Bolton, today (Tuesday February 20).

The incident was quickly resolved within around 15-20 minutes.

There were no reported injuries, and no one was trapped in the vehicle at the time.

Breightmet councillor Cllr Sean Fielding, was on Manchester Road at the time, and although he did not see the crash, he was unable to get a bus into Manchester.

He said: “I was waiting for the bus into Manchester at about 7.45am.

“Someone told me they got off a bus near Burnden because there was nothing going, and they walked further down to try and get something.

“I looked on the tracker and it showed that there were two number eights at a lay-by near Asda for about 20 minutes, and they were diverted the way the 36 goes.

“I got the train because there were no buses coming down for about 30 minutes.”
