Man injured in overturned Kia crash which closed busy road in Spondon

Photos show an overturned car on a busy Derby road[1] following a collision this morning (Monday, February 12). The incident led to Locko Road in Spondon[2] being closed for more than two hours as a man suffered minor injuries.

One eye-witness said, just minutes after the collision: "In the last few minutes there have been at least four sirens from emergency vehicles going past in Locko Road, Spondon. I saw one of them was a fire and rescue vehicle with the words 'Major Rescue Unit' on the side."

A spokesperson for Derbyshire police[3] said: "We were called by EMAS[4] following a single-car collision in Locko Road at 8am today. The driver of a black Kia had suffered minor physical injuries after the car had flipped onto its roof and blocked the road.

"The vehicle was recovered, and no criminal investigation is being undertaken." The road was reopened at around 10.30am on Monday.
