Person hit by train as Merseyrail services disrupted

A person has been hit by a train on Merseyrail's Wirral[1] line.

The tragic news was announced by Merseyrail[2] this evening, January 1, as passengers were told to expect disruptions to services on the Ellesmere Port and Chester line.

A spokesman said: "Due to a person sadly being hit by a train, services on the Ellesmere Port and Chester line are disrupted. Services between Rock Ferry and Chester/Ellesmere Port have been suspended, with services terminating and starting back from Rock Ferry."

A 15-minute shuttle train service has been put in place between Rock Ferry and Liverpool. A rail replacement bus service is also in operation, conveying passengers between Rock Ferry and Chester and Ellesmere Port.

People travelling to Hooton have been warned that replacement buses will stop on Hooton Road due to emergency services remaining at Hooton Station.
